Monday Talk: Becoming A Morning Person

I'm definitely a night owl and far from being a morning person, but I've come to realization that staying up until 2 AM and getting up at 7 just doesn't work for me anymore. I'm not talking "a little bit tired" I'm barely able to function. I disagree with the advice that says you must be a morning person to be productive, I'm way more productive during the night and I strongly believe that sleeping habits are genetic. However, everything starts early in the morning, Uni, work - you name it. Now, if we can't change our working hours, we should probably consider to change up our sleeping habits and become an early riser. Getting up early does have a lot of benefits and I can't deny, a few extra hours during the day where I'm actually functioning like a normal person could help me out a lot. Awesome - project becoming a morning person can start. Now, how do I plan my perfect morning?

I try and get at least 7 hours of sleep, otherwise I just can't work productively. Finding the right time to wake up can be really hard and setting your alarm earlier doesn't necessarely mean you'll rise earlier. Determine how much sleep you need and make sure to get about that amount each night. Oh and stay away from that snooze button!

There's a few things that definitely help me to feel a lot more awake, so the first thing I do is head into the bathroom and use a gentle face wash or scrub to cleanse my face. Following a simple and quick skincare routine in the mornings, instead of just splashing cold water in my face makes such a difference. I instantly feel refreshed and ready to start the day. I love using my Foreo Luna to cleanse my face, it gets your skin squeaky clean and almost feels like a little facial massage.

Next up is breakfast, taking the time to sit down and eat is so important for me. Apart from providing us with energy, breakfast foods are usually good sources of important nutrients such as calcium, iron, vitamins, protein and fiber. Breakfast also restores glucose levels, which is needed for the brain to function. I wish I had known all these things when I was still in school. While eating breakfast, I would usually check my phone, instagram, twitter - but lately I really enjoy reading a book instead.

Soo these are a few thing that help me to survive early mornings. I'd love to know what you do, do you have a certain routine that gets you going?
