A few years ago I watched this Macualy Calkin interview on Ellen, (which was extremely odd and awkward-but that’s a subject for another day). Anyway, during the interview he said he didn’t like to go out during the Christmas time because it was "his season." Haha! Well, fall is New England’s season. New England is in all it’s glory right now, and a fall trip up to Vermont is one of my favorite traditions we’ve started since moving to the East Coast. On Saturday we drove up to Stowe for the day. It was our first time to the little town and I have to say, I think it’s my new favorite fall spot.

Since we have a new horse this year and we aren’t ready to leave him over night, so we popped up North for a day trip and it was still a ton of fun. Next year, I’d love to get an AirBnb and stay a couple days, so we could hike and explore more.
The drive alone up to Stowe is worth the effort especially right now with the colors changing. It’s so beautiful, even in the winer this charming little town would be picturesque but right now, it’s absolute magic.
The first thing we did after arriving was walk around and explore all the little shops and mercantiles on Main Street in Stowe. There are lots of fun little places to pop in and look around or pick up something for your home. Then we stopped into Cafe on Main a great little sandwich shop and got the yummiest soups and sandwiches. The weather was so beautiful and we found a picnic bench outside the town hall on main and ate outside in the fresh fall air. It was perfect.

After exploring the town for a bit we drove around the little valley enjoying the colors and all the pretty farms. It kind of feels like a fall hug, because there are hills and mountains all around you with the most beautiful fall foliage.
After our drive we headed up to the Pinnacle Peak and went for the most beautiful fall hike. It’s not a long hike but it is a bit of a challenging one. The best part was that we actually saw one of the Stowe Pinnacle Dogs! About the time we reached the summit a storm rolled in, and he hiked all the way down with us in a rainstorm. Despite the rain we loved the hike so much and we now we have the memory of hiking down a mountain in a torrential downpour, which we’re already all laughing about. Needless to say, we stopped at a Walmart on the way home and bought everyone some dry sweats to ride home in…
Whenever we do a day trip I always make sure I pack snacks, jackets for everyone (regardless of the weather) hand sanitizer, and my favorite hand cream, but from now on I’ll be bringing a change of clothes for everyone as well! ;-)
Well that was our day in Stowe! Usually we stop by a local farm and grab some maple syrup and treats but we honestly ran out of time this year, and I can’t wait to head back next year for a longer stay and more exploring.
Also, Max came too. He LOVES Vermont. ;-)
