I have to be honest, as far as my closet is concerned, most years I’m kind of bummed when winter starts to turn into spring. I never feel as creative with getting dressed in the warmer months, and I prefer deeper fall colors and neutrals to brighter spring and summer colors. This year, I decided I was going to be very intentional building my spring and summer capsules so that my creativity flourishes and today I am so excited to share a few great spring capsule pieces as well as a new sustainable line I just discovered from Walmart of all places!
Because I’m a huge believer in using a capsule, and buying less but buying better, I don’t often find pieces in these price points that I would recommend to you guys, but these are a joyful exception and surprise.
Believe me when I say that Wamart’s new sustainable line, Free Assembly is awesome with a capital "A." Not only are these pieces made of natural materials (hello lovely cotton!), they’re also well made, thoughtfully designed and all come at incredible price points. I love when I discover super affordable pieces that are also high quality and versatile, perfect for anyone building a capsule on a budget.

First up, this cardigan. It’s the dream spring cardigan, well knit, perfect length, ideal fit, and so versatile. It’s only $28 and so nice, I bought it in the terra-cotta color as well.

Here’s the sweater in the other color. Now let’s talk about this tee! Such a great cotton t-shirt, its not sheer, and has a perfect fit and cut. I would expect to pay $30-40 for a tee of this quality but this one is $12.

Another fun way to style the cardigan and tee, with wide leg pants and loafer mules!

Walmart killed the sweaters in this line and this great little pullover (only $26!) is another serious winner. I paired it here with my Everlane wide leg white pants and my favorite Madewell mules, but there are endless ways to remix it. It’s got a slightly cropped length so it’s perfect for pairing with all your high waisted bottoms, or anything that falls at the natural waist.

Last piece is this amazing maxi shirtdress. I love the lightweight breezy cotton fabric and the relaxed cut of this dress. The fit is really good and it’s even petite friendly! You can see how I styled it with booties and a cardigan for early spring here and then for full summer below with sandals and wicker bag.

So what do you think of Walmart’s new line?
